==Overview==
I am generally drowning in a sea of paper. This includes old files and paper keepsakes, documentation, books, and magazines. There are plans for each category.

Ok, I am a digital pack rat. I have files that I will probably never use, view or listen to but, I find it hard to get rid of them. At least I got over it with real books and stuff.

The files come from several places and then, ideally, go to their respective locations. Most require a little work to make them useable, which can be read as "findable".

There are three processing levels:
- Discard on sight. Anything that isn't even still important to me falls into this category.
- Scan and discard. This would be things that do have some importance or interest. Scan and categorize and then discard the original.
- Scan and keep. The scanning is for completeness however, the item may be interesting from a family history perspective. Then again, maybe not. The ones that I can think of immediately are employment contracts going back to the beginning of my career.

==Documentation==
Documentation items generally includes manuals for things that are here in the house or for things that we have owned in the past. Avoid scanning these and try to find them on the internet. Load them into the wiki and connect to an appropriate page.

Depending upon the size and scope of the document it can be placed into either [[Paperless]] or [[Calibre]].

==Miscellaneous Paper==
The plan for this material is to scan the documents into [[Paperless]] and discard the majority afterwards. Lots of it has meaning to me, but probably no one else. Some of it I have not reviewed in years so it is probably not special. I do want to get most of the paper gone before I am. I would like to get it all down to the single two drawer file cabinet in my room.
